Members and roles

Every person on your account holds one of four roles: Owner, Admin, Agent, or Viewer. Roles are account-wide — the same role applies everywhere in Relay, from the inbox to billing.

Find the full list under Settings → Team members.

Inviting someone

Only owners and admins can invite. Click Invite member, choose a role, and Relay generates a one-time invite link.

  1. Go to Settings → Team members and click Invite member.
  2. Choose the role the new teammate should have.
  3. Copy the generated link and send it to them yourself — email, chat, whatever you'd normally use.
  4. They open the link, sign up (or sign in if they already have a Relay login), and land in the account with that role.

A pending invitation can be revoked any time before it's claimed, from the Pending invitations list on the same page. Invitations that go unclaimed expire on their own after a few days.

What each role can do

CapabilityOwnerAdminAgentViewer
View conversations, contacts, pipelines, reportsYesYesYesYes
Send messages, move deals, run broadcasts, edit automations and flowsYesYesYesNo
Invite, remove or change the role of other membersYesYesNoNo
Manage billing — plan, payment method, cancel/reactivateYesYesNoNo
Edit account-wide settings (WhatsApp connection, templates, pipelines, tags, custom fields, account name)YesYesNoNo

A Viewer is read-only across the entire app — every write action is disabled for that role, not just settings. An Agent can do the operational, day-to-day work (send messages, work deals, build automations and flows) but has no access to settings, billing, or member management. Admin adds settings and billing on top of that. Owner adds the one thing nothing else can do: deleting the account (see Danger zone).

Removing someone

An admin or owner can remove a member from Settings → Team members. Removing someone signs them out of the account immediately; their login isn't deleted, and on their next sign-in they land in a fresh personal account of their own rather than back inside yours. There's no self-service "leave this workspace" button for the member themselves — if someone wants to leave, an admin or owner removes them.

Who can see this page

Settings → Team members is visible to every role, but the Invite member button, role changes, and removal are all admin-and-above only. A viewer or agent can see the roster but can't act on it.
